Multi-tier Alignments

The President and CEO of a highly profitable, national apparel corporation had successfully aligned his senior team, using GDS facilitators. The need to push effective cross-functional teamwork down to the next management level was critical to expedite product design and delivery and to effectively service customers.

To ensure that both management levels were operating by the same ground rules and procedures and to facilitate effective communication and cooperation between levels as well as cross-functionally, GDS conducted a multi-tier alignment session. Focus groups were initially conducted with all participants to identify the strengths and issues to be addressed within this multi-level management team. The multi-tier alignment session created a framework and ground rules which allowed the various departments and organizational levels to effectively address problems in a direct and candid manner, without the hidden agendas, finger pointing and personalizing of issues which had impacted speed and productivity.

GDS met with this team six months later to assess progress and provided the organization with appropriate skills training in influence and conflict resolution to continue building team effectiveness.
